Privacy for Refresh
No account, no telemetry, no network connections of its own, and nothing about your Mac's contents ever leaves it. Purchases are handled entirely by Apple.
This is the policy for Refresh, the Mac App Store version. The version downloaded from this site works differently and has its own policy.
The app
- No account. There is nothing to sign into.
- No telemetry. No usage data, no analytics, no counts of what you cleaned.
- Nothing about your Mac's contents. Every file name, size and path it finds stays on your Mac.
- No network connections of its own. The app does not contact any server. The only network traffic is the App Store's own, described below.
What it can open
Mac App Store apps run in Apple's sandbox, which lets an app open only what it has been given. Refreshis given your Downloads, Movies, Pictures and Musicfolders. It can also open Caches, Developer, Logs, Desktop and Documents, and any other folder you add, but only after you allow each one in macOS's own window; the permission is kept on your Mac so you are asked once, and removing it in Settings → Folders ends it. It uses these folders only to measure what is there and to clean or move what you have asked it to.
It does not have Full Disk Access and never asks for your administrator password.
Buying and renewing
The subscription and the one-time purchase are sold and charged by Apple through your Apple Account, and Apple renews the subscription. When you buy, restore a purchase or open the app, the App Store tells the app whether you have an active subscription or the one-time purchase. That exchange is between your Mac and Apple, underApple's privacy policy.
We do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details. Apple gives developers sales reports — how many subscriptions, in which countries — that identify no one.
Crash reports
If you have turned on Share with app developers in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may pass us crash reports and usage figures for this app. They come from Apple, not from the app, and do not identify you. Turn the setting off and nothing is shared.
This website, the support form and email
The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics; the main privacy page has the detail.
The support form sends your name (if you give one), your email address, your message, which version you use and any screenshot you attach. They are stored with our database provider, Supabase, in London, and forwarded to our support inbox by email through Resend, so we can reply. To stop the form being abused we keep a one-way, salted hash of your IP address for an hour's rate limiting — never the address itself. Messages and screenshots are kept only until the conversation is finished with, then deleted, and are never added to a mailing list. The same goes for anything you write to support@caddora.ie.
Changes
If the app ever needs to collect anything, this page will say so first, the App Store listing will say so, and the app will ask before doing it.
