Privacy for RefreshMyPhone

Your photos, videos and files are analysed on your iPhone and never leave it because of us. No account, no analytics, no adverts, and no server of ours anywhere in the app.

This is the policy for RefreshMyPhone, the iPhone app. The Mac apps have their own: RefreshYourMac and RefreshYourMac Storage.

The app

  • No account. There is nothing to sign into.
  • No analytics, no adverts, no tracking. No usage data, no counts of what you cleaned, no advertising SDKs.
  • No network connections of its own. The app does not contact any server of ours. The only network traffic is Apple's, described below.

Your photos and videos

With your permission, RefreshMyPhone reads your photo library to find duplicates, similar shots, blurry photos, old screenshots, Live Photos and large videos. All of that analysis happens on your iPhone. No photo, video or anything about them is uploaded, and we never see your library.

To open quickly, the app keeps its last results on your iPhone — which items it found and the choices you made, such as which photo in a group to keep. They stay inside the app and are removed if you delete it.

Nothing is deleted without your say-so: every clean-up shows what it will remove, and iOS asks you to confirm. Deleted photos go to Recently Deleted, where you can still recover them.

iCloud

If your photos are in iCloud Photos, the app may ask iOS to download an original — to compress a video, for example. That download is between your iPhone and Apple.

If you choose to move a video to iCloud Drive, the app copies it into a RefreshMyPhone folder in your own iCloud Drive. It is stored by Apple in your iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy; we have no access to it.

Files

The app can only open folders you choose in the Files app. It reads them to find duplicate and large files, and changes nothing unless you ask it to. Remove a folder in the app and it stops looking there.

Buying

The lifetime unlock is sold and charged by Apple through your Apple Account. When you buy or restore it, the App Store tells the app whether you own it. That exchange is between your iPhone and Apple. We do not receive your name, email address, Apple Account or payment details; Apple gives developers sales reports that identify no one.

Crash reports

If you have turned on Share with App Developers in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may pass us crash reports and usage figures for this app. They come from Apple, not from the app, and do not identify you. Turn the setting off and nothing is shared.

Email and this website

If you write to support@caddora.ie, we use your message and email address only to reply, and delete them once the conversation is finished with. The website sets no cookies and runs no analytics; the main privacy page has the detail.

The launch list

Until RefreshMyPhone is on the App Store, its pages on this website have a form for being told when it is. If you use it, we keep your email address, the date and which page you signed up on — stored with Supabase, the database host behind this site's forms — together with a scrambled, irreversible code made from your internet address, used only to stop the form being flooded. We use the address for one thing: a single email when the app is on the App Store, after which the list is deleted. It is never shared, sold or used for anything else. To be taken off sooner, write to support@caddora.ie.

Changes

If the app ever needs to collect anything, this page will say so first, the App Store listing will say so, and the app will ask before doing it.
